Counselling in Fuerteventura
Recently I have had the pleasure of getting to know Bridie, a resident of Fuerteventura who also has her own counselling practise in Puerto del Rosario. You could almost say that we are kindred spirits – and I’m still not sure who talks the most out of the two of us.
Bridie is a warm and loving lady, who really does care about helping people to ease their burdens – whatever they may be… so I was keen (with her permission of course) to provide some information about Counselling in Fuerteventura for anyone that may be seeking help.
Here’s what Bridie had to say:
“I am a ‘Humanistic Counsellor’ which basically means I strongly believe that we all have our own answers and solutions to life’s problems. My job is to help people find their way through and back to a place where they can live without the distress and unhappiness that their problem is causing. In other words, I don’t fix it for them but I do help them learn to fix it for themselves. I guess you could say I help them find and use the tools and skills they need to resolve their current issues. The list of the areas I help with is almost endless really. I can honestly say that in all the years I have been supporting other people I never EVER came across one person who did not benefit from good counselling. Sometimes just simply speaking the worries that have been racing round and round in your mind gives clarity and makes the problem less daunting and scary. Having a counsellor to help you look at your problems from a different perspective is often all that is needed to resolve issues and make them more manageable and less overwhelming. Friends and family are a great support BUT they are naturally biased and frequently want to interject their own experience which is NOT always helpful. Often people feel their problem is embarrassing, shameful, unique to them, or simply just too difficult to cope with. They may not even understand what it is that’s causing them to feel as they do and that’s where counselling in a safe and confidential environment really becomes a powerful option.
