Many people bring their pets to Fuerteventura when they move and obviously you will wish to do the best for your four legged companion.
There are a number of legal obligations, all provided to ensure the health and happiness of your pet.

1. Your pet must be shipped in an IATA approved Air pet travel kennel of the correct size for your fluffy friend. Cats are often collected from the baggage carousel, whereas the dogs are usually collected from the office – due to the size of their kennels.
2. You must ensure that you have the relevant Export Health Certificate from DEFRA.
3. You must ensure that cargo space has been reserved with the airline you have chosen, and that this date ties in with all the other documentation.
4. To be on the safe side – book an appointment with your local vet as early as possible to ensure everything is organised.

Once in Fuerteventura, there are a number of vets to keep keep your pet in good health. Do remember that the weather is a lot warmer here than the UK, so ensure that your faithful friend always has plenty of drinking water (which is always kept fresh and clean), and some shade that they can escape to when they need to. Most animals settle fairly well, but if in doubt – always consult a vet. It may mean the difference between life and death.
