Moving to Fuerteventura

Questions we are often asked by people back in the UK is “what time is it in Fuerteventura?” and “Do the clocks go back in Fuerteventura too?” Or “do you put the clocks forward in Fuerteventura too?”

Despite being Spanish, the Canary Islands are far enough over to keep the same time as the UK and Ireland, which is  GMT. This is not the same as being on Spanish time – which has an hour’s difference.

So, because we’re on GMT, our clocks here also go back and forth at the same time as them. So here’s an easy way to remember!

First of all – remember the phrase “Spring Forward… fall back”. This will remind you which direction they go in the spring and autumn.

In March – the clocks “spring” forward on the last Sunday in March – at 1am.

In October – the clocks “fall” backwards on the last Sunday in October – at 1am.
